Monmouth Beach and the Ammonite Pavement

Lyme Regis. Fossil hunting just west of the Cobb, with giant ammonites set into the rocks at low tide.

West of the Cobb, Monmouth Beach is one of the best places on the coast to look for fossils. At low tide, walk west to the Ammonite Pavement, a ledge of rock studded with hundreds of large fossil ammonites.

Check the tide times before you go, stay away from the foot of the cliffs, and look on the beach rather than digging into the cliff face.
