The Greenhouse, Eype

Come and relax in our 2-bedroom holiday apartment at Eype.

Eype Beach sits between Golden Cap and West Bay, ideal if you wish to park your car and spend a week watching the waves and spectacular sunsets. If you want to explore this World Heritage Coastline; our holiday home sits right on the South West Coast path!

Our newly refurbished chalet is on the southernmost edge of an open field and has its parking and entrance at the rear of the property.

On entering the chalet you will have the twin and the king-size bedrooms on your right, both rooms are newly decorated and have new beds and furniture so you can unpack and make yourselves at home. The comfortable beds are made with professionally laundered, hotel-quality linen so you can be assured of a comfortable night’s sleep!

To the left of the hallway is the modern bathroom with a large walk-in shower.

The hallway leads you to the bright and airy, open-plan, kitchen/dining/living area with a well-equipped kitchen, dining table with 4 chairs, and living area with two comfortable sofas and a Smart TV.

The glazed sliding doors across the southern end of the property really maximise the wonderful views of the sea from the living space. Through the sliding doors, there is a decked terrace with a picnic bench overlooking the sea, a great place for that morning coffee or a nightcap whilst watching the setting sun to the west, over Lyme Bay.

Guests will have the entire chalet to themselves.

I will not be around during your stay but you will have a direct line to me or my co-host and fast responses to messages.

Eype village is one of West Dorset’s prettiest with its many 18th and 19th-century thatched cottages, country pub and winding single-track lane down to the beach.

Eype Beach is one of the lesser-known destinations on the Jurassic Coast and offers an unspoilt shingle beach and plenty of opportunity for fossil hunting. There is limited parking for the beach so you are sure to be able to enjoy your time here without having to jostle for position on the beach!

Whilst Eype is secluded and unspoilt it is only a couple of miles from the conveniences on offer in the market town of Bridport and its harbour at West Bay.
To the west is Golden Cap (the highest point on the south coast) with Charmouth and Lyme Regis just beyond.

Supermarkets
“Eype Eats” is a shop (just a few metres from the chalet) offering essentials and a cafe selling fresh coffee, croissants, and freshly prepared food.
Waitrose, Morrisons and Lidl are in Bridport (approx 2 miles away). Bridport has a range of high-street shops and a healthy array of independent shops, including a greengrocer and a butcher.

Restaurants
Eypes Mouth Hotel and the New Inn both serve good food and are within walking distance of the property.
The surrounding area offers many dining options to suit every taste and budget.

Attractions:

Symondsbury Estate – 1500 acres of Dorset countryside and ancient woodlands. Home of the iconic Colmers Hill (accessible from their free car park). The visitor centre has shops, a gallery and a cafe.
Golden Cap – park at Langdon Hill National Trust car park and enjoy a walk around the wooded circular route or take on the ascent up Golden Cap for incredible views in every direction.
Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens – Magnificent Victorian walled garden set in 30 acres of woodland valley, with a children’s play area, nature trail and coffee shop.
Bridport market – Wednesday and Saturday from 8 am to mid-afternoon.
The Marine Theatre – live music and performance in Lyme Regis.
Seal Cove – a climbing and indoor play area in Bridport for kids to enjoy if the weather is against you.

The ‘Jurassic Coaster’ (X51 and X53) travels along the coast in both directions but if you need to get a bus we would suggest that walk along the coast path to West Bay (30 minutes) or drive into Bridport and take a bus from there.

What a gem Positive: The most perfect seaside home. Easy to book and great communication. Comfortable beds and modern bathroom with walk in shower. The view was stunning with the sounds of the waves crashing was relaxing.

We had a lovely last minute Feb Half Term break at Tim’s cabin. The whole place was spotless, well equipped, pristine bed linen and towels . The kitchen has everything you need and more! The one thing we felt a little disappointed by, was that some of the photos, particularly the aerial shot, make the property look at lot more private than it is. There is in fact a car park directly in front of the property meaning that the decked area is overlooked and lacks privacy. It was very busy even in February so this is something to bear in mind if you are looking for a secluded spot! I imagine it gets very crowded in the summer months. The roads leading to the cabin are single track and very narrow which made the approach a little challenging. There are plenty of coastal walks to do. We had a lovely walk to West Bay which only took 30 minutes. The Discovery Centre was fantastic for our children and a great place to shelter from the rain. The volunteers were very welcoming.

We had the most wonderful time staying here. The house was immaculate and well heated, perfect for the wintery weather outside. You can see the sea from the window and walk to the sea in a minute! It was the perfect time away, we would 100% recommend!!
